Beautifully crafted and complete with corp de rechange (extra joints and tuning foot) to allow it to be played at historically accurate tunings of A=415Hz, A=430Hz and also with modern A=440Hz


CARL AUGUST Grenser (1720-1807)

was active between 1744 and 1789 and founded his workshop in Dresden.  He went on to become one of the most famous wind instrument builders of the eighteenth century.
C. A. Grenser’s original flute is in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg (Dresden c. 1775).
It is made of boxwood with ivory rings and silver key. Its body has 7 parts in addition to a foot register.
The Grenser flutes works with a wide range of tunings: the most commonly used today are A = 415, 430 and 440.

 

All of the late 18th century repertoire including that of Carl P. E. Bach, Haydn, and Mozart can be played on this flute.
