    JACOB DENNER (1681 - 1735)

The main school of woodwind instrument builders was developed in Nuremburg, and the Denner family was one of the most outstanding and recognized participants in the activity there.
Jacob Denner was a flute, oboe and bassoon builder. He was the eldest son of Johann Cristoph Denner, who invented the clarinet as a modification of the chalumeau, a folk instrument that uses a reed, around 1700.
Jacob Denner's original flute is one of the few that have survived intact and in very good condition. It is in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg (Nuremberg c. 1715). Its excellent sound quality makes it a wonderful choice for different repertoires, including that of Bach, Telemann, Mattheson, Vivaldi and Handel.
